Campaign cash becoming steamy issue

Matt Marsden, Joe Schwarz's campaign director, continues to rip Tim Walberg for taking so much out-of-state contributions via Club for Growth's base of staunch anti-tax Republicans.
"Tim Walberg’s current campaign is funded almost entirely from out-of-state contributions bundled together by a 527 group from Washington DC," Marsden wrote April 6 in his Campaign Journal. "These groups, via a loophole in existing law, are not obligated to comply with campaign finance laws."
Walberg, a Tipton native, has not used his Web site to respond. But he did just recently announce that Joe Wicks will return as his campaign manager. Wicks managed Walberg's failed 2004 bid in a six-man Republican primary that Schwarz won.
So maybe we'll start to see some activity from Walberg campaign that doesn't just involve building a campaign war chest.
In other campaign news, Schwarz's campaign is reprinting letters to the editors of newspapers across the 7th District in its latest attempt to dispel Walberg's rhetoric leading up to the Aug. 8 primary. The incumbent's Web site now features a "See what your neighbors are saying" section.

What exactly is the deal with Walberg's campaign; what have they been doing? There is nothing on his website except a really sweet picture of him on his motorcycle...

As far Walberg's website goes, Schwarz's name appears there more than his does.

Go figure?

We will know in a few days. they have to file by febuary 15th. CfG asssured us his race was the most important int he country. This race is big and every one knows it. Tim is wright on abortion, he won't ever vote to spend money for any pork, and he is our conservative. It really is that simple. As long as conservatives around the country wake up and throw out the rinos, we are headed for greener pastures.

Schwarz and Walberg appear to have the same position on abortion. They are both pro-life. Both believe that abortion should only done to save the life of the mother. Why Walberg trying to be "holier than thou" on this issue is beyond me.

Schwarz did take Tom Delay's money. How nice of him.

Not all of Tom Delay's money was bad. Just most of it.

Schwarz is not pro-life. He is lying to the voters. He has accepted money from Planned Paranthood, which performs abortions. They would not have given it, and he would not have accepted it, if he were pro-life.

Planned Parenthood's main purpose is to educate people so they won't get pregnant and be in the position where they need an abortion. Just because they teach women about ALL their options, small-minded people think its alright to demonize them.

isn't allan the one who was fleshed out as a walberg supporting partisan? Its no wonder he would resort to the same kinds of lying tactics. Tell half the truth, play off people's emotions, and avoid reality. It makes me sick to my stomach that club for growth and its members from outside our district will be sending massive amounts of money to fund this type of negative, narrow-minded campaign. Walberg does represent part of this district. Unfortunalty, it is a radical fringe which purports to be for freedom, but actually involves controlling your personal choices from cradle to grave. Club for Growth is interested because they hate Schwarz. They hate all effective legislators who fight for thier constituents. club for Growth wants a bunch of legislators who are loyal to them, and nothing else. They are willing to back anybody but schwarz--walberg did not get their support last time and only gets it this time becasue he is to only one running against schwarz. They will back a dem in the general against schwarz becasue they are so vindictive.

It appears that from all my comments supporting Walberg, "anonymous" has deduced that... I support Walberg!

For the record, I have never met Walberg and I have no personal connection to either candidate.

Saying that The Club For Growth is motivated by a personal vendetta is absurd. They are motivated by wanting to limit government. They supported Brad Smith last time because they believed he was the conservative with the best chance of winning, not because they didn't like Walberg. Saying they don't like effective legislators is also absurd. What matters is what they are effective at doing.

Planned Parenthood's main purpose is performing abortions, and anyone who says otherwise has bought their propaganda.

The mere fact that you believe that anyone likes abortions just shows how diluted and partisan your mind has become...
