McCain, Schwarz not coming to Adrian

U.S. Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, will not make a stop in Adrian this weekend as he tours Michigan's 7th District, campaigning for incumbent U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz, R-Battle Creek.
McCain's schedule shows he's stopping in Jackson for a noon luncheon before heading up north to Boyne Mountain Resort near Charlevoix for an event sponsored by state Rep. Kevin Elsenheimer, R-Bellaire.
"Senator McCain will hold a series of other pivate meeting around Michigan in his effort to help build the Republican party," state GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis wrote in his blog today.
The Adrian Insider has learned Saturday's stop in Jackson is at Cascades Manor House. For tickets, contact Schwarz campaign Field Director Chris Moore at chris@schwarzforcongress.com.
Schwarz faces a tough Aug. 8 primary battle against former state Rep. Tim Walberg of Tipton.
McCain made two campaign stops in the district (including one at the old courthouse in downtown Adrian) leading up to Schwarz's 28 percent of the vote victory in a six-man GOP primary in 2004.
McCain already is raising money for a potential 2008 bid for president through his political action committee, Straight Talk America.

I heard a Schwarz campaign staff say that Joe Schwarz (is that spelling right?) has gone up 12 percent in Lenawee since the first of the year. I was also looking at the club for growth fec page and I could only find money to Tim Walberg of only around $8,100 dollars last month. What is going on? Now, the first few months of the year they were sending him like 20 or 30 thousands each month. If the club for growth is bailing out, we are in trouble. Especialy if we can't get the Lenawee voters out to support him. I just hope he has better advisers than Jerry Zandstra. We have to get behind Butler now in that one.
