Walberg: Schwarz a 'tongue in cheek' conservative

Here's a headline U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz and his campaign workers are familiar with: "Opponent attacks Schwarz as liberal."
It's a Sunday, June 18 story from Ann Arbor News about Schwarz and his familar political foe, former state Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Tipton.
In addition to Senator John McCain's $137,000 one-hour fundraiser on June 10 for the moderate incumbent, Schwarz also brought former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman to Ann Arbor for a recent fundraiser. The Schwarz war chest is likely to top Walberg's out-of-district support, according to a June 17 report in The Battle Creek Enquirer.
The Ann Arbor News story has the all familiar exchange of campaign rhetoric that's likely to only get more intense as the Aug. 8 primary approaches.
Walberg, a preacher, is "not changing who he is. He's working with every Republican he can work with, and that's been his strategy all along,'' said Schwarz campaign manager Paul Egnatuk. Ironically, Walberg agrees and is trying to use Schwarz's consistency to his advantage, The Ann Arbor News reported."Joe is who he is and his record is what it is,'' Walberg told The News' Art Aisner, labeling Schwarz a liberal. "It's hard to describe him as a conservative without having your tongue firmly in your cheek.''

All the quotes at the end of this post are mis-attributed.

It would be silly to think anyone would accuse Walberg of working effectivly with anyone other than his DC-NYC cash machine and super extreme socially repressive special interest groups.

Did you see the latest blog posting on Schwarz's campaign website?
Check it out.
Everything Walberg says is apparently not true?

I've always thought of Walberg as a "tounge-in-cheek" minister. The way he's acted in this campaign doesen't appear very clerical to me. There is a wealth of issues he hasn't addressed or is even knowledable of, because of his obession with hot button social issues. As far as I can see he has no solid credentials to be a Congressman.
