'Paid for by' ommitted in Walberg ad

Tim Walberg's campaign for congress has admitted it inadvertently left out the required "paid for by" component in a recent radio ad.
The Tipton Republican corrected the error after lawyers for his opponent, U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz, demanded he comply with campaign finance laws, The Battle Creek Enquirer reported today.

The cheater got caught. The Hillsdale paper had a story about Schwarz signs getting stolen. The walberg campaign response was, "prove it." Sounds like a 3rd grader... Not right in 04. Not right now. He should try to get his Chicago job back and leave us alone.

I saw that farm where those signs were taken. I drive past there on a regular basis to Coldwater from Somerset. Schwarz signs the first day and Walberg signs the next day. I about puked knowing that those farmers support Schwarz through the Farm Bureau endorsement. What a horrible place in Hillsdale County for the Walberg campaign to take signs from.

I've worked on many campaigns throughout my life and a mixture of teenagers, vandals, and overzelous volunteers/activists do stuff that the campaign never condones. The number of signs that both sides, in any campaign, have to replace really is staggering. The person who sounds like a 3rd grader is issuing a press release that says a sign was stolen in Hillsdale. Aren't there more important issues that Congressman Schwarz or his handler John Truscott can talk about then some guys sign being taken and then blaming the other campaign -- grow up!

Ask that farmer who he thinks should "grow up." He had to suffer the embarassment of having one of those ugly orange signs in his yard. And, he probably went into town for coffee and had to get jeered at by his friends.

Bringing the sign theft to light only illustrates a pattern of behavior which is totally unbecomming of a person running for elected office. Distorting the truth and condoning theft are character traits which voters don't like. Blaming it on your "overzealous" supporters is passing the buck. "Prove it" sounds like what a red-handed thief says to the cop who caught him. Maybe the last poster needs to work on some different campaigns to see how they are conducted ethically. Maybe John Truscot will line him up with a job for DeVos in the fall.

I think everyone knows that kids steal signs. The real point seemed to me that the Schwarz signs were replaced with Walberg signs. Thats just dumb of the staff/volunteers. I thought Walberg signed a clean campaign pledge?
