The Minuteman factor

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps., an Arizona immigration watchdog group that patrols the Mexican border, now says it spent $50,000 on TV and radio ads on Tim Walberg's behalf, not the $150,000 the group was threatening to spend to defeat Joe Schwarz.
The Minuteman's political action committee "spent nearly $50,000 informing voters of Schwarz’s insistence on political pandering to the pro-illegal immigration crowd and to his support for bilingual election ballots and Amnesty schemes.," the group states on its Website.
As it turns out, the group's spending as well as the generous outlay of other nationally known special intersts helped Walberg win the Aug. 8 primary over the incumbent from Battle Creek.
